10 hour Anatomy with Maria Kirsten for Students & Teachers

On Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th August we will have Maria Kirsten delivering anatomy for all levels of students and teachers.

Anatomy is a crucial component of our yoga practice and further study. Classes and lectures with Maria are anatomically and functionally based, very visual and fun. We all leave Maria's classes & lectures feeling we can better understand our bodies, and also feeling empowered to build strength and flexibility while cultivating our capacity to self regulate and relax.

Date: Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th August

Time: 10am-4pm (both days with 1 hour break)

Cost: $85 each day or $150 for weekend

This Module will include:

  • The nervous system: particularly autonomic, sympathetic parasympathetic

  • The anatomy and basic physiology of breathing

  • Anatomy and kinesiology of spine, hips and shoulders

  • Anatomy based injury prevention for the knee, neck and lower back

  • Understanding the intention and modification of poses anatomically.

  • Our module is registered with Yoga Alliance and you can claim the 10 hours towards your Certificate.

ABOUT MARIA KIRSTEN

Maria Kirsten has been teaching accessible yoga to grownups and beginners in Lennox Head since 2000. She is trusted by local health care providers as an experienced teacher to whom they can safely refer their clients. Maria teaches regular Yoga for Grownups and Yoga for Older Grownups classes at the surf club in Lennox Head, and works privately as a Yoga Therapist and Occupational Therapist. Maria's areas of experience and interest are in healthy aging, chronic pain management, and proactive management of mental health.

Maria is committed to making yoga safe and accessible for everyone, especially people who thought they could never do yoga. She is committed to the principles of inclusion, meaning that everyone benefits from yoga classes which provide students with the skills and the space to individualise the practice. Classes with Maria are anatomically and functionally based, take a big picture perspective, and are very visual and fun. Students leave class with a better understanding of their bodies and minds, and feeling empowered to proactively manage their mental and physical health.

As a lecturer in yoga asana, anatomy and therapy on several Yoga Teacher Training courses, Maria's mission in life is to prepare new teachers and health professionals to teach yoga in a way that supports the individual goals and needs of every student. Maria teaches teachers how to make the powerful poses and practices of yoga safe, simple and accessible to all.

Maria offers Yoga for Older Grownups and Yoga for Mental Health graduate teacher trainings and workshops in the Byron Bay area, Japan, the UK, New Zealand and all over Australia - including Newcastle with us !
