Mark Hughes – Ambassador

NRL Legend

Mark Circle

Mark is a legend on and off the footy field. He played for the Newcastle Knights from 1997-2005  and was part of the teams two NRL Grand final victories in 1997 and 2001. Mark was also picked to play for the NSW Blues in the 2001 Origin Series.  At the end of 2005 he left the Knights to join French club Les Catalans for the 2006 Super League series.

Mark to us is one of the most down-to-earth, funny and inspirational people we know. In 2013, he was diagnoised with a Brain Tumor. He spent months travelling to the Central Coast to receive chemo and radiation treatment. Since his diagonsis he has completed 33 radiation sessions and 6 months of oral chemotherapy which were successful. His story of survival and determination has left a foot print in all of our hearts as he lives his life to the fullest. Mark and his wife Kirralee now run the non-for profit Mark Hughes Foundation which raises much needed funds to support cancer research and other brain cancer patients and their families.

So how did we find Mark? Actually, Mark found us! He used yoga as part of his recovery for his body and mind and hasn’t looked back. We noticed Mark’s incredible commitment and strength to his yoga practice and are proud to say he has become part of our beautiful Loftie family.
